OCEA began designing its range of Fast Patrol Boats (FPBs) more than 30 years ago. The FPB range has been built up gradually and consistently, but regulations have changed since the initial design, with a strong impact on the weight and thus on competitiveness. Furthermore, the technologies and design resources have also evolved since then.
More than 110 boats from this range have been sold to date, and more than 80% of OCEA’s FPB fleet benefits from OCEA’s services and support aimed at assisting our customers in the operation and maintenance of their fleet, which has also enabled us to benefit from continuous feedback from our customers.
Threats, risks and behaviour in terms of maritime safety and security have also evolved considerably, and the administrations responsible must therefore have increased and adapted operational capabilities, against a backdrop of budgetary constraints.
Benefitting from OCEA’s policy of continuous and mastered innovation, we have therefore decided to renew OCEA’s successful FPB range from 15 to 41 m with the following objectives:
Shipborne extended capabilities:
- +10% RHIB size on average
- +10% free deck area
- +8% complement on average
- -16% fuel consumption on average
Extended capacity to integrate situation awareness and intervention systems:
- Selected UAV, USV and UUV/AUV
- Selected weapons (lethal and non-lethal)
- Selected high end day/night camera, tactical radio
Compared to the previous FPB range, the FPB “Avant-Garde” range offers augmented operational capabilities with:
- Increased availability
- Reduced CAPEX
- Reduced OPEX
- Reduced environmental footprint
