Nigeria FPB 110 MKII contract confirmed

December 2016

Further to an international RFP, the Nigerian Navy awarded OCEA for the building of two new 35 m Fast Patrol Boat type OCEA FPB 110 MKII and just confirmed the contract enforcement for a delivery in 2017.

These multipurpose vessels issued from the FPB 110 MKI platform already operated by the Kuwait Coast Guard for more than 10 years benefitted also from OCEA’s recent experiences in Algeria, Benin, Surinam and Nigeria Navies and Coast Guards for the design and equipment of this fixed pitch propelled version designed to carry out maritime safety missions such as:

  • general coastal patrol and policing duties within the EEZ;
  • protection of the marine environment;
  • control of laws enforcement at sea;
  • fight against piracy and illegal activities: smuggling, crimes, illegal immigration and illegal fishing activities;
  • search and rescue.

These two new vessels will enhance the Nigerian Navy capabilities in countering the maritime insecurity in the Guinea Gulf and thus will contribute to the development of Nigeria’s blue economy and security.
